Welcome to The Natural Learning Path
A New Name, Same Heart
You might have noticed a change around here. This space was once called Essence Aligned. But over the past months, I realised that while Human Design and the Gene Keys are central threads in my own journey, this newsletter isn’t only about those systems.
I’m a grounded, practical person who has spent 15+ years in the UK health and education services, and over 20 years working with autistic and neurodivergent children in different roles. Alongside that, I’m a home-educating mum, and for the last six years I’ve been diving deep into Human Design and the Gene Keys.
So The Natural Learning Path felt like a truer name — one that holds together all these strands: my professional background, my parenting experience, and my love of consciousness-based systems. It reflects what I’m really here to do: to support families raising children who don’t always fit the mould, and to help create new, more natural ways forward.
The Thread That Runs Through It All
In my years as a children’s Speech and Language Therapist, I met literally thousands of children, from newborns right up to teenagers. Sometimes I worked with them long-term, sometimes I had just an hour to assess and connect.
And here’s the thing: that one hour often mattered more than any report or set of exercises I could send home. Because if I couldn’t connect soul-to-soul, nothing else would land.
I learned to tune into every flicker of expression, every shift of body language, every tiny sound — and to respond in a way that let a child know: I see you. You matter. I enjoy being with you just as you are.
It was in those moments that breakthroughs happened — not because of a resource or protocol, but because of presence, attention, and connection.
And what became clear to me, after thousands of these encounters, is just how utterly unique every child is. Their sensitivities, their gifts, their quirks — none of it fits neatly into a box.
Square Pegs, Round Holes
The truth is, most of the children I worked with didn’t fit the mould of the mainstream classroom. They were the “underperforming,” the “disruptive,” the “apathetic,” the “wild.”
But I saw them differently. I saw their spark, their brilliance, their deep sensitivities. And I started to wonder: are we really here to “fix” these children? Or should we be questioning the system that fails to hold them as they are?
That’s when I began to step away. Because as much as I loved the children, I couldn’t keep trying to squeeze them into boxes that were never made for them.
A New Lens
At the same time, I was deepening into Human Design and the Gene Keys. These systems gave me a new language for what I was already seeing: conditioning, homogenisation, the loss of natural essence.
I was also becoming a mother myself — and facing the choices of where and how my daughter would be cared for and educated. I knew I didn’t want her spirit shaped to fit a classroom model. I didn’t want her natural creativity, play, and curiosity replaced by “work” designed by someone else.
So I stepped off the mainstream path. We chose a more natural, home-based, life-led education. And over time I’ve come to see that this choice is part of a much bigger shift: a growing number of parents and children creating new ways forward, especially for the sensitive, spirited, and non-linear learners who don’t easily fit the mould.
Why This Space Exists
This newsletter is for those families.
For parents raising children who are sensitive, spirited, neurodivergent, or simply wired differently.
For parents who choose not to hand their children over to a one-size-fits-all system, even if their kids could technically get by in it.
For anyone who feels called to nurture children in a way that honours their essence.
Here you’ll find:
✨ Reflections on Human Design, the Gene Keys, and child-led learning.
✨ Stories from my own parenting and home-educating journey.
✨Practical tools and resources to help you observe, profile, and celebrate your child’s unique strengths (I’m gradually developing these behind the scenes and will share them as they unfold).
✨ Ideas for how to create home and family environments that support natural growth and learning.
My hope is that The Natural Learning Path will be a place where you feel supported, inspired, and empowered as you walk this different path with your child.
Because education is not just what happens in school. Education is what happens in every moment of connection, play, curiosity, and presence. And every child deserves to be raised as their true self.
💌 Thank you for being here. If this resonates, I’d love for you to subscribe and join me as we explore what a more natural, soul-honouring education can look like — together.
